Innovating for Transport and Energy Systems (ITES) has announced the launch of a new challenge call accelerating the entry of UK SMEs into the Indian clean transport and energy market. The programme will bring together a trio of experts, led by Energy Systems Catapult, with the Indian Institute of Science and major innovator accelerators Social Alpha, to help SMEs address key decarbonisation challenges within India’s burgeoning energy sector.
Unique opportunity
Backed by Innovate UK and the UK’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, the new programme offers a unique opportunity for startups and SMEs specialising in clean energy and transport technologies to gain strategic access to one of the fastest-growing markets in the world. Participants in the challenge call will have the opportunity to benefit from support including expert incubation, seed grant funding, tailored pitch development, and real-world testing opportunities in India.
Business matching with Indian partners
The challenge also includes exclusive masterclasses and bespoke resources to enhance the commercial capabilities of these businesses, facilitating smoother entry and scaling in the Indian market. Moreover, strategic matching with Indian entities will provide UK innovators with critical relationship-building opportunities to further their reach and impact.
Backing at the highest level
ITES aims to not only fast track these innovative solutions to market but also to forge sustainable partnerships that bolster the clean energy ecosystems of both nations.
ITES lead Andrew Stokes said: “It’s a really exciting and unique opportunity for UK SMEs to access one of the world’s fastest-growing clean energy markets at their pace.”
“’Exciting’ because ITES is right at the forefront of UK-India innovation at a pivotal moment for development and investment in net zero energy and transport solutions. And as part of a landmark collaboration between UK and Indian governments, ITES benefits from unique
backing at the highest level. It helps us open key doors for SMEs that are part of the programme.”
All UK SMEs developing solutions in clean transport and the wider energy system are invited to apply.
With limited places available, potential participants are encouraged to apply early.
